Cheap but not especially cheerful.
Great location with fabulous views across the harbour and the staff are really decent people trying their best. The price was ok given breakfast was included but that’s about where the positives stop. The whole place outside of the room needs a thorough deep clean, it’s grimy and tired which is a shame for the staff and the building which could be stunning. Our room was small but clean with space to hang clothes and a small dresser. No beside light though and a very tatty bathroom - in fairness it all worked and the room was warm. The room must have had a lick of paint recently as the smell was overwhelming and although we managed to get the window open a couple of centimetres it wouldn’t stay open so we couldn’t vent the room. It was noisy and you kind of accept that given it’s a pub but the furniture being moved at 06:00 and the beer delivery at 06:30 spoiled things. Some rubber matting for the beer delivery would fix that problem. Sadly we wanted a drink about 10:20 pm on the first night when we arrived back but we were told bar service had finished 🙁. So overall great location but a miss more than a hit. Staff trying hard with a tired building.

Came in for food. Bar maid didn't understand plain spoken English. Asked to verify what I was ordering from the menu. Given the wrong food for 30quid. Bye.

What a great place to stay. The staff are amazing and Levi made sure we had everything we needed including discount pints and the bus timetable. Food brilliant and really good location will be back.

We stopped here for a few drinks and decided to try the food, the service on the drinks was great but I can’t say the same about the food, I ordered lasagne and it was un edible just a pile of mush, the staff avoided the table like the plague, finally as we were leaving the lady said sorry about the food and that was it, we paid £20 for lasagna and chips to just leave them on the table.
I wouldnt bother wasting your money here

A round price jumped from £17 in the previous bar to £28 in this one.
We ordered Bombay sapphire and a pink beefeater gin with slimline tonic and two draught drinks.
The gin was either fake or mixed with something else, I know my gin and this was the most awful drink I've ever had. Immediately asked at the bar what it was mixed with, bar person took a drink and said 'tastes okay to me' passed it back and sent us on our way.
For that reason we left our drinks and won't return.
The entertainment was fantastic, the service and the price was not!
Don't be put off Whitby though, everywhere else was wonderful and not nearly as badly priced
